This story comes to us from FoxNews’ Todd Starnes. As Christians are about the only group it seems ok to attack, Dan Savage, the aptly named and wildly hypocritical founder of anti-bullying group, “It Gets Better,” bullied Christian high school journalists at a conference.

Dan Savage is an excellent example of what perpetual victimhood results in - a complete inability to tolerate other opinions. And as victimhood is entwined with entitlement mentality, Savage further demonstrates this in that he doesn’t tolerate Christianity, yet shrilly demands that he is entitled to have his own beliefs tolerated.

So here we have the man – feted by Hollywood and President Obama - who created an organization which speaks against the bullying of gay kids, turning around and bullying kids with Christian beliefs. And I’m sure his donations will keep rolling in.

The worst part is – no one has called him on this and he is getting away with it.

I mean, have you read about this in the mainstream media? No, I thought not.

“As many as 100 high school students walked out of a national journalism conference after an anti-bullying speaker began cursing, attacked the Bible and reportedly called those who refused to listen to his rant “pansy assed.”

The speaker was Dan Savage, founder of the “It Gets Better” project, an anti-bullying campaign that has reached more than 40 million viewers with contributors ranging from President Obama to Hollywood stars. Savage also writes a sex advice column called “Savage Love.”

Savage, and his husband, were also guests at the White House for President Obama’s 2011 LGBT Pride Month reception. He was also invited to a White House anti-bullying conference.

Savage was supposed to be delivering a speech about anti-bullying at the National High School Journalism Conference sponsored by the Journalism Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association. But it turned into an episode of Christian-bashing.

Rick Tuttle, the journalism advisor for Sutter Union High School in California, was among several thousand people in the audience. He said they thought the speech was one thing – but it turned into something else.

“I thought this would be about anti-bullying,” Tuttle told Fox news. “It turned into a pointed attack on Christian beliefs.”

Tuttle said a number of his students were offended by Savage’s remarks – and some decided to leave the auditorium.

“It became hostile,” he said. “It felt hostile as we were sitting in the audience – especially towards Christians who espouse beliefs that he was literally taking on.”

Tuttle said the speech was laced with vulgarities and “sexual innuendo not appropriate for this age group.” At one point, he said Savage told the teenagers about how good his partner looked in a Speedo.

The conservative website CitizenLink was the first to report about the controversy. They interviewed a 17-year-old girl who was one of students who walked out of the auditorium.

“The first thing he told the audience was, ‘I hope you’re all using birth control,’” she told CitizenLink. “he said there are people using the Bible as an excuse for gay bullying, because it says in Leviticus and Romans that being gay is wrong. Right after that, he said we can ignore all the (expletive deleted) in the Bible.”

As the teenagers were walking out, Tuttle said that Savage heckled them and called them pansy-assed.

“You can tell the Bible guys in the hall they can come back now because I’m done beating up the Bible,” Savage said as other students hollered and cheered. “It’s funny as someone who is on the receiving end of beatings that are justified by the Bible how pansy-assed people react when you push back.”

The executive director of the National Scholastic Press Association provided Fox News with joint statement from the Journalism Education Association that was sent to members – after a number of people complained about Savage’s remarks.

“We appreciate the level of thoughtfulness and deliberation regarding Dan Savage’s keynote address,” the NSPA wrote. “some audience members who felt hurt by his words and tone decided to leave in the middle of his speech, and to this, we want to make our point very clear: While as a journalist it’s important to be able to listen to speech that offends you, these students and advisers had simply reached their tolerance level for what they were willing to hear.”

The NSPA said they did not have a prior transcript of Savage’s speech and that wish “he had stayed more on target for the audience of teen journalists.” They also said it provided a “teachable moment” for students.

As for Savage’s attack on people of faith?

“While some of his earlier comments were so strongly worded that they shook some of our audience members, it is never the intent of JEA or NSPA to let students get hurt during their time at our conventions,” they wrote.

However, not once did the NSPA or the JEA offer any apologies to the students or faculty advisors or anyone else in attendance.

Savage did offer a sarcastic apology “if I hurt anyone’s feelings.”

“But I have a right to defend myself and to point out the hypocrisy of people who justify anti-gay bigotry by pointing to the Bible and insisting we must live by the code of Leviticus on this one issue and no other.”

Tuttle said that he “felt duped” by the event. “There were Christian schools who went to the conference. To have this happen was disappointing and shocking.”

The NSPA said they should have done a better job preparing schools for what to expect.

For his part, Tuttle said that he will definitely be more cautious about the speakers at future conventions. Tuttle related how Savage told students that for a number of years he was not allowed in schools. He told the students that because it’s gained national acceptance “he’s reveling in the fact that it’s basically a middle finger to all those teachers and administrators who wouldn’t let him have access to those students before.”

But for some of Tuttle’s students – they felt like the anti-bullying activist was in fact – the bully.

Well, teachers everywhere (and a lot of parents) will applaud the dad in this story.Donnell Bryant had had it with his 15-year-old daughter’s failing grades and bad attitude so he devised a way to make her own up to and become accountable for her actions.

Mr. Bryant told WCTI12 that Quandria was getting into a lot of trouble at New Bern (NC) High School and he was worried she was on the verge of becoming a “mean girl.”

“She acts like it’s all about her,” Mr Bryant told the station. “At the end of the day, it’s n<del></del>ot.”

He said the final straw was when she got suspended for being disrespectful to her teachers.

“The teachers are to the point where they’re just fed up,” he said.

So he decided to make his ninth-grader a roadside attraction.

Dad took Quandria to Highway 17, across from her high school, and made her carry two signs that amounted to a public confession. One side read “I have a bad attitude. I disrespect people who try to help me,” and the other read, “I do what I want, when I want, how I want it.”

The humiliated Quandria used the sign to shield her face from the passersby, but that didn’t stop people gawking and taking photos.

“If more parents did this, then kids would learn respect,” Christine Baker said to WCTI12.

Mr Bryant said that Quandria’s older brother suffered a similar punishment and it snapped him out of his spiral.

“Instead of embarrassing the teacher, she’s the one embarrassed,” Mr. Bryant said.

Did it work? Well, after having gone through this ordeal, Quandria vowed to make amends.

For holding his child to a higher standard, holding her accountable for her actions, and teaching her respect for her teachers, Mr. Bryant receives our kudos!

Here’s a sad piece about Chris Brown – my heart is already breaking for these innocent animals.

“Can Chris Brown do ANYTHING right? His actions and attitude just continue to repel. Now he’s breeding and selling pit bulls. His own dogs are NOT neutered. (He’s far too macho to neuter his dogs like a RESPONSIBLE pet owner.) We saw his ad for CB Breeds a few days ago and couldn’t believe it was real. But it is. He’s advertising to sell 8 two month old puppies for $1000 a pop. Just what the world needs – more pit bulls. Shelters everywhere are overloaded with sad, abandoned pit bulls desperately needing homes. And many people feel because of their unpredictable dispositions they should no longer be bred at all. But, of course, none of these things matter to “Mr Macho” Chris Brown.”

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a Bruins fan. Married to an avid hockey player (high school, college and still today), we saw the heartbreaking Game 7 overtime goal that gave the Washington Capitals the nod to move on, while the Bruins hung up their skates for another season. Like Bruins fans everywhere, were proud of how far the team had come and dejected they had lost.

But then we read about what happened after the game and were disgusted. Apparently, some Bruins fans weren’t too happy about their team losing, and worse, having the winning goal scored by an African-American. (I hate using terms like African-American or Italian-American because we are all just Americans, but in this case it is used to illustrate the point.) So these thugs took to Twitter with some unbelievebly nasty, hateful and racist rhetoric.

Their actions were immediately condemned by the Bruins, the Caps and the NHL. As the NHL stated, the tweets were “ignorant and unacceptable. The people responsible for these comments have no place associating themselves with our game.”

In my humble opinion, these people should be publicly shamed. What dispicable cowards, hiding behind their keyboards. A few of the offenders, as posted on the Daily Mail (UK) website: Kevin Hall (@KHall1013), Coty Shean (@cboogie20), Cam Durgin (@Cam_durgin39) and Brian Mosca (@BrianMosca).

There aren’t too many black players in the NHL, and most seem pretty aware of their role model status and act in a way that accords them that deserved title. (Actually, you really don’t hear about NHL players in general acting poorly.) But Joel Ward really stepped up after the tweets were mentioned to him by telling USA Today that, “It doesn’t faze me at all…..It has no effect on me whatsoever.”

After Ward’s decisive goal, former Bruin (and African-American) Anson Carter tweeted “Warrrrrrrrdo!!” and soon found himself subjected to the same racist tweets. Carter, who had nothing but lovely things to say about Boston and the Bruins said, “I was a black hockey player – so what? I was a Bruin and that’s all that mattered.”

These two are class acts. Kudos to Joel Ward and Anson Carter, who act as role models by taking the high road (that low road is awfully crowded) and not letting other people’s actions dictate their own!

P.S. Note to Braden Holtby: Wow, what a series!

It is SO refreshing to read about girls who are emulating positive role models! After hearing about and seeing young women looking up to and trying to be more like the Kardashian sisters, the punks from Jersey Shore or any number of tatooed, chain-smoking, foul-mouthed, barely dressed reality /tv/film/music “stars,” I came across this story about a lovely NJ teenager who has decided that she wants to be more like Kate Middleton than Kim Kardashian.

From the NY Post:

“Feel free to exhale, moms of New York. A tough new governess has blown in on the east wind and is coaxing girls in the NYC area to mind their manners, study hard and steer clear of short skirts and bad boys.

Could it be Mary Poppins? The Tiger Mom? Nancy Grace? Nope — it’s none other than wispy royal Kate Middleton.

One year after her wedding to Prince William, city teens are enchanted with her modest ways and sensible style.

“She’s a really hard worker, she’s really smart and she handles herself well,” says Dana Gaier, a 14-year-old from Essex County, NJ.

A year ago last weekend, Gaier curled up to watch the broadcast of Kate and William’s nuptials. Since then, the teen has soaked up interviews with the prim duchess and even modeled her bat mitzvah dress (deep blue with a banded waist and shrunken jacket) after one of Kate’s frocks.

But Gaier — incidentally, the voice of Edith in the “Despicable Me” films — mimics far more than Catherine’s wardrobe.

“When she and Prince William first broke up, Kate didn’t go and bash him in the press, and I also don’t talk about my friends badly,” notes the ninth-grader.

“And she doesn’t go out until 3 in the morning and come back drunk. I’ve turned down those types of parties, because you have to think about the right decisions and how far you want to go in life. Kate always believed in fairy tales — you have to stick it out and believe in yourself to get your fairy tale.”

Wait a minute. Aren’t teen girls supposed to be enthralled by the scandalous antics of stars like Lindsay Lohan, Rihanna and the Kardashians? Tempted by brooding boys and cigarettes (paging Lourdes!) and raging bacchanals?

“We’re starting to see this switch, with a resurgence of girls wanting to be refined ladies instead of train wrecks,” says Lyss Stern, a Midtown mother and founder of divamoms.com.

“They’re asking for dance lessons, manners lessons and demure heels instead of hair extensions, fake nails and short dresses up to their chi-chis.”

Patricia Napier-Fitzpatrick, founder of the Etiquette School of New York in Manhattan has seen a 25 percent uptick in teens around the city requesting her services since last year’s royal marriage.

“Girls are hungry for someone they can look up to and not be embarrassed about emulating,” she says.

“Kate Middleton was an ordinary girl, so if she can marry a prince, possibly we all can. It’s aspirational for girls . . . to be conservative and tasteful and ladylike.”

Dana is poised, responsible, has her feet firmly planted on the ground and knows she has to be accountable for her own actions. Somehow I think she is going to grow up into a success story, and her parents should be very proud of the way in which they have raised her. Kudos to the Gaier family!

Today’s story comes to us courtesy of TMZ:

“Octomom Nadya Suleman — who is pulling in $2,000 month in food stamps thanks to California taxpayers — spent $520 on a Brazilian blowout, and 2 cuts … TMZ has learned.
Octo’s hairstylist Stephanie tells us … she went to Octo’s house on April 18 to cut her hair and do a Brazilian blowout — a chemical straightening treatment. Octo owed Stephanie for an earlier haircut, and the grand total came to $520. Octo also paid Stephanie $80 for hair products. Mind you — Octo wrote the check at a time when she was in dire need of welfare.
Stephanie — who went to cops yesterday and filed a report claiming the 14 kids were living in squalor — tells us she couldn’t believe Octo was spending this kind of loot on haircuts when her plumbing didn’t work.
Stephanie says a plumber had been to the house recently and told Octo it would cost $150 to fix the pipes, but Octo declined, saying it was too expensive. As a result, the kids have to use portable training toilets in the backyard.

By the way, Stephanie also says while she was cutting Octo’s hair, the mother of 14 locked her kids in the bedroom. Take a look at the pic — notice the chair she used to keep the door shut. “

Sorry, where are child welfare services again? And why is this woman receiving welfare?

I love watching Theresa Caputo, “The Long Island Medium,” and would love to have a reading done by her someday! But Theresa, how could you cave??!!

In tonight’s episode, Theresa’s daughter, Victoria, gets her driver’s license, and immediately wants gas money. Larry, Theresa’s hubby and Victoria’s dad, starts to give her the money to fill the tank, but Theresa tells her that she wouldn’t get it for doing nothing, she had to earn it. Now Theresa really had my attention, great job!!!

Victoria begrudgingly calls to book some appointments to earn gas money and accidentally double books a reading, about which Theresa was not pleased. Confronting Victoria, Theresa tells her she would only get half a tank of gas because she only did half the job. So Victoria pulls the trick every kid has perfected…..the sweet smile and the childlike voice pleading for what she wants – even though she didn’t earn it.

So what does Theresa do? She tells Victoria to give her a kiss and she will get a full tank of gas.

In the little dialog piece, Theresa tells the camera that she’s like every parent and always gives into her kids. Noooooooo, Theresa!!!! What did Victoria learn from this??!!

On July 22, 2011, 33-year-old Anders Breivik killed 77 people (most of them youth attending a summer camp) in Norway. These days, he enjoys three meals a day, starting with a wholesome breakfast of porridge or home-made brown bread served with either cheese or ham, and a jug of black coffee.

He then heads over to the gym in his suite of three adjoining 86 sq ft cells, which includes a treadmill. The other rooms include a bedroom and a room to relax with a computer (no internet, but he does have access to non-violent compute games), and a tv with DVD.

Now regarding the television: Breivik has access to a “family package” of 15 television channels. In 2009 prisoners campaigned for, and were granted, access to legal pornography in their cells.

This monster also has a room-service bell which he can ring to have cigarettes delivered to him.

Did we also mention he gets the newspaper and is also allowed to write letters, a privilege he exercised recently in a 38-page open letter to three Norwegian news websites?

Being diagnosed as a psychotic paranoid schizophrenic by two court-appointed psychiatrists was “the ultimate humiliation,” Breikik wrote. The Norwegian media and families of the victims have campaigned for a second psychiatric report.

The leniency with which he is being treated has outraged some in Norway but is entirely in keeping with the country’s penal system, one of the most “progressive” in Europe. The focus is on rehabilitation rather than punishment.

But this is an obviously deranged man, who will never be able to be rehabilitated. Many people don’t agree with the death penalty, but they must agree that it is a deterrent – the criminal will never be a recidivist or hurt anyone else again.

There is speculation that after his trial Breivik he could eventually be jailed in Halden Prison, which has no bars on any of the windows. It has been called the world’s most luxurious prison, boasting facilities such as a climbing wall, a state-of-the-art recording studio for budding musicians, private bathrooms, flatscreen TVs in the bedrooms and even access to a personal trainer.
